Practice the idea of both a retrospective view. So looking back over this last year and picking out what was really great about it, but also what are the lessons learned again, what are you grateful for in the context of maybe a hard lesson to learn? And then the next part or the other half of that is something considered or called annual planning, or, you know, we've talked about before, journaling or putting down what might be a hope or a dream so that it's actually a goal. And that is through setting the foundation for what you envision or what you want to envision the next year to look like. Welcome to the Endgame podcast, where I bet you didn't know what you didn't know. I'm Dr. Ryan Wakim, successful entrepreneur and your end game coach. I want you, or I want to invite you to sit back, relax, and tune in as we discuss the topic of navigating and entering into the holiday season with a gratitude mindset. As we start this podcast, I want to mention that we have done a separate podcast just around gratitude, and you know, this is an evolution of that podcast. So by all means, make sure you, you go back and listen to that one as well. But as we think about how we round off the end of the year and, and how we can use that concept of a grateful mindset or a mindset of gratitude, entering into the, both the holiday season, but also the turn of the year is actually a practice that I would say most entrepreneurs or many entrepreneurs are already familiar with. And one that I want to make sure to highlight for us today. So, first and foremost, as you've heard me talk before about having that strong foundation, that concrete foundation without any kind of cracks or fissures, one of the ways you do that, one of the ways you create the foundation for a very healthy mindset and health set or physical health set is through the practice of gratitude. And again, I give other examples of that on the other podcasts. So, so please listen in, but setting that foundation is critically important for your everyday life, right? I mentioned before, you know, statistically and scientifically, we know that if you wake up every morning with a positive outlook being grateful for the, the multitude of things you have in your life. From the very first second you wake up, we know that that sets the stage and the foundation for a much more successful day, days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months, and that goes back to a capitalization you know, the same concept around interest rates and everything else where it's truly compounding in nature. So if you start one day off every week in a gratitude mindset, as compared to three days, as compared to five days, as compared to every day, you're getting much more compounding interest on that investment. So first and foremost there's gratitude challenges I've talked about before setting the foundation for eyes open, you know, alarms going off, eyes are open and what are you grateful for today? It's, it's important to bring it to today. So you can have that foundation. So you can be a visionary in your job as an entrepreneur and in your life. That could be professional but also personal. The next step of that or one of the things I would encourage the listeners or the audience to think about is specifically in the holiday season. You know, many of the holidays and this time of year, Thanksgiving. Truly it's in the, in the name and whether it's whatever you celebrate through the December holiday season, though, all of those things revolve around the idea of being grateful, being thankful positivity and generosity. No time better than the present, so to speak, to start to become grateful because you're entering into holidays that are really based on the themes of gratitude and generosity. One of the practices that many of my entrepreneurial friends and many of the most successful individuals you'll see on Facebook or Instagram or LinkedIn or on some sort of podcast, practice the idea of both a retrospective view, so looking back over this last year and, you know, picking out what was really great about it, but also what are the lessons learned again, what are you grateful for in the context of maybe a hard lesson to learn? And then the next part or the other half of that is something considered or called annual planning or, you know, we've talked about before journaling or putting down what might be a hope or a dream so that it's actually a goal. And that is through setting the foundation for which you envision or which you want to envision the next year to look like. So in this example today, that could be. You know, what from 2023 are you grateful for? Again, what in 2023 was an opportunity or something that you could have learned or done differently or be better with next time. And then taking some of that and applying it to the turn of the year. And what does 2024 look like again, both from audacious goal perspective, a realistic perspective Written down with a strategy behind it, but what gratitude or generosity can you pull from 23 into 24 as well? So this tends to be a time of year of donation. If you are into tax planning and you, you know, you work closely with your accountant as you enter into the 4th quarter of the year, you might start looking at what are ways that you can be generous, be grateful, help others beyond just, you know, the turning of a hand piece or the adjustment of a chiropractor or the medication of a psychiatrist, how might you help individuals that are in have a higher need through donations and giving. And so how you implement a donation strategy, both from a purpose and fulfillment and a kind of global view of helping others, but also from a financial tax perspective becomes really important in this time of year. Ideally, you would have strategized about this in the working closely with your accountant even before Q4, but if that hasn't happened again, no time like the present to be grateful for what 2023 gave you and to be generous in a way that you can help others. By also helping your tax situation too. So as you think about an annual planning, or you think about lessons learned, or you think about what was great in 23, you're going to bring into 24, make sure that a donation and a benefactor strategy is part of that global planning. That could be as simple as you know, donating your time to a food bank or to donating a gift to some sort of gift exchange for the less fortunate or the homeless, or again, those in your neighborhood, in your community or more globally who are just generally less fortunate. So thinking or taking that gratitude mindset, we talked about in a prior podcast, that foundation and then really adding to it, this idea of a retrospective look back over the course of the last year, what are your important lessons learned, but then also a, in tarot grade kind of look forward for what does that gratitude mindset look like for 24. And what is the bridge in between this holiday season as you think about family and friends and again, the Thanksgiving and the December holidays and in giving and generosity and how do you in your situation slot into that. At the end of the day, if you are grateful, if you have that grateful or the mindset of gratitude, and you're able to add that next step of generosity through donation and of time and or money and or things then you're able to really impact not just yourself, not just your business, maybe not just your family unit, but you're able to really impact lives and potentially generations of lives that are far beyond your immediate touch. And I will tell you, as you become more successful with time and as you envision yourself as an entrepreneur, the ability to be able to touch many lives without having to actually be directly involved in their care is something that I think we all strive for. You know, at night in our dreams and there's no reason why that can't become reality through your day to day. As I said, starting with a grateful mindset as a foundation, building upon that, doing a look back, doing a look forward, and then figuring out how you can give and be generous to others in a way that maybe you haven't done before, that will really help provide you fulfillment in a wonderful holiday season for you and your family. So as you look back think about the mindset, listen to the prior podcasts around mindset of gratitude. Think about how you can create that foundation, how you can be grateful every single day so you have the compounding interest related to that. And how you can be generous to others during this holiday season. I'm Dr. Ryan Wakim, successful entrepreneur and your end game coach. I'm here to teach you how to exist today.
